Dhul-Hulayfah Miqat (Abyar Ali)
The miqat where pilgrims travelling from Medina to Mecca enter ihram for Umrah.
Dhul-Hulayfah lies about ten kilometres south of Medina, in the area known today as Abyar Ali. The Prophet entered ihram here on his way to the Farewell Pilgrimage, which is why it is the miqat for those coming from the direction of Medina. Its mosque is also known as Masjid al-Shajarah, the Mosque of the Tree.
The mosque's wide, palm-lined courtyard has areas set aside for washing and changing into ihram. Our group stops here when leaving Medina for Mecca: guests put on their ihram, pray two units and make the intention for Umrah with our guide.
This visit is included in our Umrah programmes.
