Cave of Thawr
The cave where the Prophet and Abu Bakr took refuge during the migration.
This cave on Mount Thawr is where the Prophet Muhammad and Abu Bakr sheltered for three days during the migration from Mecca to Medina.
The event is referred to in the Qur'an, in Surah at-Tawbah, as "the second of two, when they were in the cave".
The visit is generally made from the foot of the mountain; the climb to the summit is long and demanding and is not part of the standard programme.
This visit is included in our Umrah programmes.
