Jannat al-Baqi
The cemetery beside the Prophet's Mosque where thousands of companions are buried.
Jannat al-Baqi lies immediately east of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi and is the oldest cemetery in Medina.
Many members of the Prophet's family, his wives, and tens of thousands of companions are buried here, among them Uthman, Fatimah and Abbas.
The cemetery is open to visitors at set hours. Because it adjoins the Prophet's Mosque it can easily be visited after prayer.
This visit is included in our Umrah programmes.
