Jabal al-Nour (Cave of Hira)
The hill overlooking Mecca that holds the Cave of Hira, where the first revelation came.
Jabal al-Nour, the "Mountain of Light", holds the Cave of Hira at its summit. It is known as the place where the first revelation came to the Prophet Muhammad.
The path to the summit is steep and the climb can take one to two hours. Our itinerary includes a briefing and prayer stop at the foot of the mountain, with additional time allowed for guests who wish to climb.
Guests whose health does not permit the climb are advised to remain at the base. The visit is usually scheduled for the early morning because of the heat.
This visit is included in our Umrah programmes.
