Mount Arafat (Jabal ar-Rahmah)
The plain and hill where the Farewell Sermon was delivered and the Hajj standing takes place.
Arafat is the broad plain where the standing (wuquf), the essential pillar of the Hajj, takes place. Jabal ar-Rahmah, the Mount of Mercy, rises at its centre and is known as the place where the Farewell Sermon was delivered.
Outside the Hajj season the area is quiet and forms part of the out-of-town visits for Umrah groups. Our guide explains here how the Hajj is performed and what the Farewell Sermon contained.
The visit to Arafat is normally combined with Muzdalifah and Mina on the same day.
This visit is included in our Umrah programmes.
